11:30 am – 1 pm

Topic: Braver Angels

Speakers: Donald Byrd and William Ellis

Please join us on Thursday, September 7, at 11:30 am in Fellowship Hall or virtually by Zoom.

Local Braver Angels leaders will give a presentation to let folks know what it does. Braver Angels is trying to spark a social movement that will hold the country together during the dark times that are sure to come with the presidential campaigns and beyond. It’s not about trying to change deeply held beliefs or pushing partisans to meet in the “mushy middle.” Instead, the aim is to make sure disagreements are based on reality, not lazy stereotypes; that people see the humanity of those they disagree with. It’s about giving people tools to coexist and providing a space where it is safe to interact with those from the “other side.”

All are welcome. Pack a lunch to bring. Beverages and snack will be provided. The program begins at noon followed by our business meeting. An email reminder will be sent out prior to the meeting. If you wish to be added to the list or want more information, please contact Doris Wittenburg, President, dwittenb@indiana.edu.

Our new fiscal year has begun! Dues are $25.00. Write out the check to UUCB – Women’s Alliance or bring cash to the next meeting.

The Women’s Alliance was founded in 1959 to manage the annual fundraising bazaar, build fellowship, and give service and financial support to the church and selected church and  community projects, as voted upon by the membership.

The group is open to everyone, and meets the first Thursday of the month at 11:30 am in Fellowship Hall or via Zoom.  In-person meetings begin with a brown bag lunch, and beverages and desserts are provided unless otherwise noted. The program starts at noon – with a presentation about a community organization or other interesting topic.  This is followed by a brief discussion of Women’s Alliance business. Meetings end at 1 pm.

Annual membership dues are $25, which, along with funds from the Gourmet Galaxy raised during the church fundraising bazaar, enable the Alliance to provide year-end holiday gifts to church staff; provide contributions to each program presenter from a registered 501(c)(3) organization; and give support to other important projects and activities.
